VIVIAN MAJKOWSKI
Biography
Vivian Majkowski has recently joined the faculty at the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance, where she is the new professor of voice, speech, text and rhetoric. She has taught at Harvard University, Harvard Extension School, the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard, University of Florida, Savannah College of Art and Design, Moscow Art Theatre School, and the University of Colorado. She has been the Vice Chair for the Voice and Speech Committee for the Southeastern Theatre Conference. She coaches voice and accents professionally for business clients, and for film and theatre. She was also the voice and speech master teacher for the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s Summer Training Program and coached productions there as well. Vivian began studying her vocal pedagogy in 1992 when Catherine Fitzmaurice was her vocal coach at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Vivian has also studied extensively with Fitzmaurice Master Teachers Dudley Knight and Phil Thompson, completing both of their workshops, Experiencing Speech in 2005 and Experiencing Accents in 2010. Her mentor during her MFA was Master Teacher Nancy Houfek.
She holds a MFA from the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training/American Repertory Theatre/Harvard University (Voice), and a BA from the University of Colorado.
