Acting Techniques for Musical Theatre Teens 12-18 Sundays - 4:00-6:00pm Instructor: Alric Davis Cost: $360 Join us for an in-depth exploration and personalized coaching for Acting for Musical Theatre in preparation for conquering the stage by conjuring characterization, signifying key moments in musical interpretation and emphasizing emotional connection to music through performance. Key Elements: Text Work-Exploration of subtext, motivations, and relationships within the context of musical theatre scripts. -Improvisation and exercises to enhance spontaneity and creativity. Vocal Performance -Training in singing techniques specific to musical theatre, including breath control, vocal projection, and articulation. -Interpretation of songs, focusing on storytelling through lyrics and music. -Guidance on vocal health and stamina. Integration of Skills -Scene-to-song transitions, ensuring a natural and fluid shift from spoken dialogue to singing. -Ensemble work to develop teamwork and stage presence in group numbers. -Feedback on connecting with audiences and sustaining energy during performances. Repertoire Building-Selection and preparation of audition material tailored to participants’ strengths and goals. -Exploration of classic and contemporary musical theatre works. Student Pre-Requisites: 2 Contrasting Songs (Can be Traditional Musical Theatre, Pop/Rock, Country, R&B, Jazz or Gospel) cut in the 64 bar style.
